Clute,
Texas , home of The
Great Texas Mosquito Festival, is located just
45 minutes away from Houston. The annual celebration has gained
national recognition and attracts thousands of visitors from all
over the country. Half-seriously referred to as "The Texas
State Bird", the Mosquito is an excuse for residents to join
in on three days of fun and games. Port
Freeport and the area beaches that line the Gulf
of Mexico are within five minutes of Clute.
The Center
for the Arts and Sciences is home to the Brazosport
Art League, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, Brazosport Nature
Center & Planetarium and Brazosport Center Stages. The center,
build for the cultural enrichment of Southern Brazoria County, offers
a wealth of educational and artistic opportunities, including the
most extensive collection of shells in the South, a life size dinosaur
replica, exhibits of wildlife, rocks, and minerals, archaeology,
fossils and aquariums.
Mammoth
Lake Dive Park, Texas’ newest and largest dive-specific Lake,
offers 55 acres of clear water for scuba enthusiasts. Divers will
have an immense range of objects to dive around, including an F-5
jet, wrecked boats, submarine, antique fire truck, a Colombian
mammoth replica and a cave system. New to the collection of
artifacts is an F-150 Hercules airplane. |
