Friday Evening

• Check into your Clute hotel and then head for the beach. No better way to start a relaxing weekend than watching the sunset over the Gulf. With 21 miles of public beach, you are sure to find the perfect spot, waiting just for you. Start your own shell collection this weekend.

• Cap off the evening with a meal at one of our fine area restaurants. From bistros to bar-be-que, you will find what your are looking for in Southern Brazoria County.

Saturday

• Start your day off right with a hearty Tex-Mex breakfast. Ask your hotel staff for their favorite place to eat!

• After breakfast your adventure begins at the Center for the Arts & Sciences. Named one of Frommer’s Top Ten Best Museum’s in Texas. The Center’s Museum of Natural Science houses one of the largest shell collections in the country—over 14,000 shells on display including a special exhibit to help you identify your “finds” from your trip to the beach yesterday. The Museum contains world-class exhibits on mineralogy, birding and dinosaurs. The Museum’s gift shop is a good place to fill out your shell collection. While at the Center, enjoy one of the changing exhibits in the Brazosport Art League Gallery. You can also check out what’s showing that evening at Center Stages Theater—live theater performances in one of 2 theaters housed at the Center; or live performances by the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra.

• If you are a nature lover, check out the Nature Trail adjacent to the Center along Oyster Creek. You’ll enjoy over 200 species of native Texas river bottom vegetation.

• Lunch on your own at any one of Clute’s restaurants.

• Spend the afternoon discovering why Brazoria County is called “The Cradle of Texas—Where Texas Began.” Visit area historical sites and enjoy the displays at the near-by Lake Jackson Historical Museum with special animatron displays and the Windecker Plane, the predecessor to the Stealth bomber.

• Calories don’t count in Clute so go for it at dinnner Saturday evening. Make a night of it, or continue your adventure back at The Center for Arts Sciences, enjoying a play, musical or concert. Want to “kick it up a notch?” Find our how real Texans dance at one of our favorite local “boon’n scoot” hang-outs. Don’t forget your cowboy hat!

Sunday

• Set your alarm and get up early and head back to the beach to watch the sunrise. Afterward, stop by a local coffee shop for that special Sunday morning pick-me-up. Did we say breakfast? Can’t get enough of those breakfast tacos? Go for it.

• Next, head to Sea Center Texas, the largest saltwater fish hatchery in the U.S. You’ll enjoy beautiful aquariums and get to meet “Gordan The Grouper”—at 500 lbs, Gordan is a real Texas-size fish!

There’s more to see than in one short weekend—
